Organizing a service body: the starter list

Every service body ends up the same way: grease guns on the floor, pry bars sliding around, zip ties everywhere. You do not need to redo the whole truck. Start with these and you will feel the difference on the first call.

The starter eight

  1. Grease gun holster. Keeps the gun upright so it stops leaking into everything else.
  2. Magnetic pry bar holder. Bars stand on the inside of the door instead of rattling in the bottom.
  3. Magnetic zip tie storage. Every length in one spot.
  4. Magnetic glove holder. One box of gloves, always where you reach for it.
  5. Screwdriver holder. Six drivers, handles out.
  6. Spray can and grease tube holder. Your most-used cans, standing up.
  7. M18 tool holder and triple battery holder. Tools and batteries off the floor.
  8. Triple brake clean holder. Three cans, no tipping.

Where they go

Put what you grab on every call on the front door: gloves, zip ties, spray cans. Heavy tools and pry bars go on the middle doors. Batteries and power tools go wherever you charge them.

Steel or aluminum?

Magnetic holders need a steel door. If your body is aluminum, the aluminum line bolts on instead.
